Dear Colleagues,
Recently, my position has been changed to Oceanside H.S. West as one of two 9th grade Modern World History teachers. Currently, I am enrolled in a social studies master's program, and this class is one of the recommended courses. It seems I will learn more technology than anticipated, although I look forward to the challenges and opportunities described in the assignment list.
The required textbooks have not arrived from amazon, and I leave for Florida June 23-30. Obviously, I will remain in contact online completing all assignments as requested with a little help from all of you. It was difficult to navigate Moodle, and now where do I sign up for Skype and gmail?
Thank you for your assistance, and most of all your patience!
Sincerely yours,
Jo Ann G. Weatherbee
As HH Jacobs noted in Curriculum 21, technology is now part of the content...not a separate piece. And we need to hustle to catch up with the many positive aspects that using digital media will afford our students.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, we need to continuously improve our technological methods and implementation, always reflecting and revising.Thank you for this opportunity!
ReplyDeleteHow interesting that you are enrolled in a social studies master's program. I love this subject and sometimes regret not minoring in S.S., and even thought about taking classes to work towards a degree. Maybe someday, but first I need to continue to work on my Masters in CA&I. I look forward to learning more about your curriculum and your insights for S.S. using technology. I still have not received my second book from Amazon as well. Both books were ordered at the same time. (?) Hopefully your books come in soon. Have a great time in Florida. Bring back the warm weather.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Leah. The textbooks did arrive, somewhat late. Florida was a working vacation this time. I removed the "popcorn"surface from ceilings in the kitchen, living room, dining room, four closets, three bathrooms, and two bedrooms, and attempted to remove more of a tiled base in two shower areas and tile/glue residue from other floor areas. The tool was too heavy, similar to a jackhammer, so I stopped after doing a small section.Fortunately, the air-conditioning is working! - Jo Ann G. W.
